The SM58 is the same microphone (same circuitry and parts) as the SM57, except they have a different body. The SM58 has a built in windscreen and slightly wider body. Most singers I come across prefer the SM58 to the SM57. They all seem to say that the SM58 picks up their voice better. I don't know why they have this idea, but they all have it.
